Chiroubles is the highest of the crus Beaujolais, with vines planted between 250 and 450 metres above sea level, so in some years it can struggle for ripeness. It offers balanced abd fruity, ‘light’ Gamay par excellence, easy to drink but without lack of vigour and acidity, and with the emphasis on fruit and peppery spice. Bernard is now in retirement so his hugely experienced and talented son Frédéric is in charge.
