A superior source for stylish Chardonnay, demonstrating that the Saint-Aubin AOC, which borders both Chassagne and Puligny, can attain similar sophistication and polish. Father, Hubert, committed himself to increasing vineyard quality and quantity, doubling the size of the domaine since 1973. Son, Olivier, has innovated in the cellar, using larger capacity oak barrels (up to 600 litres) to encourage nuanced fruit expression of these very mineral wines. The domaine’s most intense premiers crus – elegant En Remilly and honey-rich Clos de la Châtenière – receive abundant sunshine, situated directly above Puligny’ grand crus. 1er cru Les Frionnes, set further back into the arrière-côte, is cooler, lighter and more floral.
