Working steep vineyards adjoining Bué, this domaine produces three white Sancerre cuvées, of which we import the Le Colombier.
Le Clos du Roy is a characteristic caillottes wine - limestone pebbles and barely 30 cm of topsoil overlie hard granite, preventing deep vine root penetration, giving an earlymaturing, fairly mineral wine. Le Colombier, from deeper, less porous white clay and chalk soils, develops more slowly, showing citrus, pear and peachskin aromas and a firmer spine. La Côte de Champtin, a richly-scented, honeyed micro-cuvée from the domaine`s oldest vines, is fermented and raised in oak (50% new), unlike the previous two. Together, this vivid, evocative trio confirms the talent of the two sons in charge here since 1997 and their commitment to exploring the diversity of Sauvignon Blanc expression within their appellation. Delicious Sancerre rosé, punchy Menetou-Salon in both colours and extensive Pinot Noir holdings complete the picture.
