Domaine Dominique Piron
Dominique makes extremely concentrated, age-worthy Beaujolais. Morgon wines are characterised as broad and rich, almost solid, but never hard, with racy acidity, elegant tannins and brimming with black cherry fruit and bright spicy notes. The Grand Cras has pure, silky tannins and a Pinot-esque character to it while the Côte du Py is powerful and intense with lashings of black fruit and dark chocolate, tempered by its mineral core. The Chénas is dense, rich and round with a firm streak of acidity that really pulls it together and a fine, long length. Structured and concentrated Dominique’s wines all cellar extremely well.
